Meet Dr. Miller

Mr. Damion Miller is proud to say that he accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at New Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Gary, IN.  Mr. Miller is a product of the Gary Community School Corporation and he attended Philander Smith College and eventually matriculated to Indiana University-Purdue University of Indianapolis where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Secondary Education.

Mr. Miller obtained his master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Purdue University.  The 2022-23 school year marks his 26th year in education. Mr. Miller has had the pleasure of teaching middle and high school social studies for 19 years.  Following this teaching pathway, Mr. Miller was selected to serve as a Dean of Students within the Gary Community School Corporation.

After relocating to Georgia in 2018, Mr. Miller became the Dean of Students at Utopian Academy for the Arts Middle School.

Mr. Miller enjoys working with children and helping them to understand the importance of working hard to attain their dreams.  Mr. Miller believes that each child should be valued and treated with respect. He attributes his success to building positive and meaningful relationships with scholars and their families.

In addition to being an educator, Mr. Miller has been involved in music ministry for over 30 years;  serving in several churches.  He and his wife, Shontel, are blessed with a beautiful family.  They have two daughters [Damione & DaShonte], a son [Damion Miller II], and 3 dogs [Nikko, Niyah, & Nucleus].  He enjoys playing video games, making music, watching the Chicago Cubs, and serving.
