Director of Instructional Technology Caleb Land, a veteran educator and administrator of 13 years, has been appointed as the new principal of Utopian Academy for the Arts-Trilith. Mr. Land will start the transitional process for his new role in January 2023 and begin the duties of opening the first satellite middle school in the history of the Utopian Academy for the Arts Charter School Network.
In his six years at UAFA Charter Network, Mr. Land has developed into an exceptional leader. He has transformed technology in our classrooms and equipped students with the tools, software, and experiences necessary for them to grow as critical thinkers in a digital age. Mr. Land’s expertise in instructional technology has enhanced teaching and learning. He has coached faculty and provided training sessions to help make our classrooms more collaborative and engaging.
Mr. Land began his career at UAFA Charter Network in 2016 as a lead history teacher. In 2020, he became an integral part of the team leading the charge to provide educational continuity for students during the global pandemic as classes were taught remotely. His service to UAFA Charter Network has helped to boost student achievement and increase opportunities for individualized instruction adapted to the learning styes of each scholar.
Mr. Land’s professionalism has been lauded at the state level. In 2020, he was named as a “Shining Star Teacher” by the Georgia Charter School Association, and a year before that, he was honored as UAFA’s Middle School Teacher of the Year. Prior to his tenure at UAFA Charter Network, Mr. Land served as the executive director of Gilmer CLC where he also provided support as an instructor for five years.
Mr. Land has a Master of Education Design and Instructional Technology degree from the University of Georgia and a Bachelor of History degree from Reinhardt University. He is currently pursuing his doctorate in curriculum and instruction at Mercer University and has completed leadership development programs at the Georgia Council for Economic Education, Stanford University, the Georgia Department of Education, and the Georgia Council for Social Studies.
Mr. Land is certified in Nearpod and Microsoft Office in Education and Teams, training in Google Classroom, Adobe, Audacity, Articulate 360, Flipgrid, Kahoot, Gimkit, Seesaw, Infinite Campus, and Wooclap.
